What is the difference between a hatchet and an axe?

Whether for woodworking, camping, or gardening. Both hatchet and axe are essential tools, but there are significant differences between the two. A hatchet is smaller, lighter, and ideal for one-handed tasks like splitting kindling or pruning trees. Depending on the intended use, there are axes in different sizes and designs. A small axe with a blade length of 30 to 50 cm is ideal for pruning or working with wood in the garden. Medium-sized splitting axes between 50 and 70 cm are perfect for chopping firewood. For felling trees or heavy woodworking, large forest axes with a length of over 80 cm are used. The choice of the right axe depends on individual requirements – those on the go opt for the compact hatchet, while a massive axe is the better choice for larger woodworking tasks.
